LA This Week: Four Weekends, Two Conventions, One Fashion Week
Two flea-market weekends, a streetwear convention the size of a small city, and the first nights of fashion week — all within about a fifteen-mile radius this month.

October opens loud and ends dressed up. Two big flea-market weekends, a convention built entirely around sneakers, and the start of fashion week all land within the same three weeks, which is a good excuse to leave the house with a camera more than once.
ComplexCon takes over the LA Convention Center this month, and it functions less like a trade show and more like the biggest sidewalk in streetwear for one weekend a year. Whatever's dropping this season shows up here first, worn by people who clearly built the outfit around it rather than the other way around.
That same weekend, a few doors down in Kentia Hall, ThriftCon Los Angeles runs its own version of the idea for vintage. Doors open at 10am on October 3rd for a convention built entirely around secondhand clothing and collectibles, which tends to draw people already wearing their best finds instead of saving them for later.
Silverlake Flea keeps a busy calendar this month, running October 3rd and 4th, then again October 10th and 11th, at 1900 N. Vermont Ave in Los Feliz. It's smaller and more specific than Melrose Trading Post, leaning hard into '90s and Y2K clothing, which makes it a good stop if you're chasing a particular shape rather than browsing everything at once.
A short drive away, Los Feliz Flea sets up its rooftop market on October 3rd and again October 10th, at Vintage Land / Concrete Jungle on Alpine St. More than 125 vendors means vintage clothing shares space with antiques, vinyl, and local designers, so it rewards slower browsing over a quick lap.
Melrose Trading Post runs its Sunday market on October 4th and October 11th at Fairfax High School, and it stays one of the more reliable places in LA for a genuinely broken-in denim jacket or a handmade piece from a vendor who's been showing up for years. Proceeds fund the school's arts program, which is a good reason to actually buy something instead of just looking.
The Rose Bowl Flea Market returns October 11th for its usual second-Sunday slot in Pasadena, more than 2,500 vendors deep and running since 1968. A full morning there covers maybe a third of the stadium, so it helps to have a plan before wandering in.
Los Angeles Fashion Week runs October 16th through 18th at The Lot Studios in West Hollywood, timed to overlap with the tail end of LA Market Week a few miles over at the California Market Center — about as close as LA gets to one continuous fashion week. The runway matters, but the sidewalk outside between shows is usually just as worth watching, same as it is everywhere else fashion week happens.
Four weekends, two conventions, one fashion week. Plenty of chances this month to see what LA is actually wearing, not just what's being announced on a runway.
