Melrose Trading Post

Founded in 1997 by actors Pierson Blaetz and Whitney Weston as a way to fund arts education at Fairfax High, the market started with around 40 vendors in the school parking lot and has grown to roughly 275 today -- vintage clothing, handmade goods, art, and antiques over mass-produced resale, which is why the styling here tends to look more personal than a typical flea market. It's raised more than $10 million for the school's arts programs since it began.

Roadium Open Air Market

Running since 1952 on 15 acres, open 363 days a year -- outside LA proper, in Torrance, but close enough to the South Bay's photography circuit to be worth the drive. Most days it's general secondhand and new goods, but twice a month it runs dedicated Vintage Days (the Thursday and Friday before the second Sunday), when the vendor mix shifts specifically toward vintage clothing and accessories.

Rose Bowl Flea Market

Started November 10, 1968, by R.G. Canning and Bill Tunnell as a way to put the Rose Bowl's empty parking lots to use -- the first run drew about 200 vendors and 12,000 visitors. Nearly 58 years later it's grown into more than 2,500 vendors spread across the stadium grounds every second Sunday, drawing an estimated 20,000 buyers a month and a recurring nickname, the 'Flea Market of the Stars,' earned from decades of celebrity and interior-designer regulars.
