Five looks from one Sunday in Los Feliz that we kept coming back to.

No ranking, no scores. These are simply the ones that held up when we went back through the week's photographs.

A cream feed-sack pinafore, printed with tigers and old brand type, worn over a red bandeau. Most printed workwear is a reproduction of something; this reads like the original, and the restraint underneath is what lets the print carry it.

Los Feliz, Los Angeles

Pink faux fur over a white oversized graphic tee, camo cargo shorts, rainbow socks, a crochet trapper beanie with braided tails. Four ideas that should not agree. The fur is the only soft thing in the outfit and it sits at the top, which is why the rest reads as deliberate rather than accidental.

A cream and olive striped rugby over very wide light-wash jeans. The width is the whole point — the rugby is cut close enough through the shoulder to keep the proportion legible, and the stripes hold a horizontal line against all that vertical denim.

A monogram cap over an oversized washed-black tee and wide dark indigo denim. Everything here is big except the cap and the sunglasses, and those two small fixed things are doing the work of a belt.

A 1999 NBA Champions Spurs caricature tee with brown and white striped shorts. Two prints, two eras, one palette. It works because the shorts repeat the tee's brown rather than introducing a third colour.
