LA This Week: 8 Places Worth Going

Vintage markets stacked three weekends deep, a sneaker convention built for people who dress for the occasion, and Abbot Kinney finally coming back after two years off.

This is a past edition of LA This Week — the events in it have been and gone. Read the current edition.

This stretch of the calendar is heavy on vintage, which is exactly the kind of heavy we want. Fleas, a sneaker swap, a knitwear sample sale, and a street fair returning from a long break — plenty of reasons to leave the house with a camera or at least a good pair of shoes.

A Current Affair Los Angeles lands at Cooper Design Space on September 19th, and the scale of it is the draw: over 200 vintage retailers and private dealers in one building, with enough editorial-world attention that the shopping and the people-watching tend to run neck and neck.

Got Sole LA takes over the LA Convention Center that same day, noon to 6 PM, and it's less trade-show floor than dressed-up swap meet — sneakers, trading cards, streetwear, vintage. This is the kind of crowd that treats the event itself as an outfit opportunity, which tends to make it one of the denser concentrations of deliberate fits you'll find anywhere on this list.

Los Feliz Flea runs its rooftop setup at Vintage Land / Concrete Jungle on Alpine Street on the 19th, then again on the 26th and October 3rd — same 125-plus vendors, same rotation of antiques, vinyl, vintage clothing, and local designers. If one Saturday doesn't work, there's always another.

Long Beach Antique Market shows up early on September 20th, 6:30 AM to 2 PM, at Veterans Memorial Stadium. Eight hundred-plus vendors spread across 20 acres is a lot of ground to cover, but the vintage clothing and Native American jewelry sections are worth the early alarm on their own.

Melrose Trading Post keeps its regular Sunday slot at Fairfax High School on the 20th, 27th, and October 4th — vintage, handmade goods, art, antiques, and proceeds that go straight back into the school's arts program. Worth building a Sunday around more than once.

The Elder Statesman Sample Sale hits 260 Sample Sale LA in Beverly Hills on September 23rd. The brand's knitwear has always leaned relaxed and a little precious about it, so a sample sale is a good chance to get a piece without the usual price tag doing the talking.

Abbot Kinney Festival returns to the boulevard on September 27th, 10 AM to 6 PM, after sitting out 2024 and 2025 because of a sponsorship slowdown. Hundreds of vendors, live music, food, a 21-and-over beer garden, free to attend with valet parking only — a full street's worth of people-watching back on the calendar after two years away.

ThriftCon Los Angeles opens October 3rd at 10 AM in the Convention Center's Kentia Hall, pitched as the convention for vintage clothing and collectibles both. Serious collectors and casual thrifters end up shoulder to shoulder, which usually makes for good outfits on both sides of the booth.

Eight stops, most of them recurring, all of them worth a Saturday. Bring a bag for the fleas and comfortable shoes for Abbot Kinney — that boulevard is longer than it looks.
