The shirt catches you first, hanging completely open with nothing to close it, sleeves pushed down past the wrist instead of rolled up. A phone sits in the chest pocket like that's what the pocket was built for, which it probably was.
The proportions work because everything underneath stays close to the body. The tank is fitted, the shorts sit at a normal length instead of dropping past the knee, so the only volume in the whole outfit comes from that one oversized shirt. It reads as intentional rather than borrowed.
Pinstripe over mesh over cotton is three different textures doing three different jobs, and none of them compete because the palette stays in the same light, washed-out family. Cream, pale blue, white, grey. Nothing pulls focus.
Behind him, the red canopy tents and folding tables of the Little Tokyo market give the photo its only real color, which makes the outfit look even quieter by comparison. The cap and sunglasses do the rest, keeping the whole thing a little guarded despite how relaxed everything else is.
